Dear Boating Magazine,
Times must really be tough. Each month I open up your magazine, there never fails to be typographical errors, erroneous data, misinformation or just reversed numbers. I guess that means you use Microsoft as your proofreader, not someone who actually knows about boats or boating. Your article on the Ebbtide with the 115 E-Tec vs. the V-6 I/O was a perfect example. First you pit a 115 vs 190 HP Merc? Is that really fair? How about a 150 Etec? Also your fuel burn info on page 64 was WAY off...........Hello? McFly....... Since when does a 190hp Merc burn 11-12 gph at wide open????????? How about 17.30 gph to be exact. And you wonder why your MPG copy was off. Now onto your Timeless Designs article. Of course I knew the SeaCraft 23 would be one of the five and the DYER 29 and Donzi Sweet 16 were nice but did you realize you titled the article 5 Timeless designs when in fact the article features SIX boats?????????? I also agree with the Grady Adventure 208 but did you have to show a photo of a larger Grady that was in fact NOT A 208 Adventure. As far as the SeaCraft 23, why the HELL did you put a photo of a Sailfish 2360? And where did you get www.classiccraftboats.com as a reference to rebuild SeaCrafts?????? Perhaps the owner of the website classiccraftboats.com will appreciate your typo but if you took 2 seconds to check out www.classicseacraft.com you would have seen a devoted bunch of hardcore fishermen/fisherwomen tearing down and rebuilding their 18's, 20's 23's and 25's as good as the day Carl Moesly rolled them off the line and out to the dealer. Our recent get together in Palm Beach Camping on Peanut Island shows the proof is in the pudding. http://www.classicseacraft.com/forum...&fpart=15&vc=1 Finally what ever possessed you to choose the Chris Craft Launch and the Sea Ray deck boat as a timely design. Hummmmm(scratching my head) Perhaps advertising dollars? I would say perhaps the GRAND BANKS TRAWLER OR BOSTON WHALER MONTAUK would truly be considered timeless designs. I expect more from you David Sideman. Shame on you. PS, you spelled is Moelsy wrong! Next time, do your homework. www.moeslyseacraft.com

Damn Brian......I'm impressed!! Not sure what I enjoyed more, catching those dolphin a couple of weeks ago with you OR you lambasting those yahoos with that POS artice!!!! Great job!
Oh yeah Ken, no doubt the Florida Sportsman magazine has gone straight to hell!! Just for grins I pulled out the magazine from 2003 when the wife's picture was in it versus todays 1/8" thick advertisement brochure. No doubt in just 8 years it's half what it was, not only in size but in content. It's getting pretty sad. |

I followed up the rant with an additional typo. It really bugs me when fuel flow data or stats are off. The article on the Jupiter 38 was good but again, the fuel range columns were off. Way off. When I pointed that out again to the editor, he followed up stating the I was wrong because it's based on 90% of fuel tank capacity leaving a little for margin.
Perhaps if he got his head out of his you know what, opened to page 42 the total range of the Jupiter was 1 mile. And that was at all rpm's. ![]() I await his response. ![]() ![]() ![]()

I am pretty sure Boating Magazine is the one I just received in the mail along with a note that they were ceasing publication. The balance of my subscription will be Yachting Mag. At least I think this is what I remember.
