Default Back into a Seacraft

Finally found another seacraft, been away for a few years after I sold my 20SF.
Well, I just picked up this nice 23, all original including the trailer.

Am looking to get into one with the transom already redone with a bracket, or simply a hull with no engine or engine for pretty cheap that I could have the transom enclosed and a bracket put on it with brand new power of my choice. I'm not a big fan of Mercury of which I think was on this boat. I'm sure you got a pretty good deal on a great boat regardless. It was just more than I was wanting to spend knowing the engine would have to come off and a lot of fiberglass work done, plus the addition of a bracket and new engines I could pick one up already running for all that money I would have had to spend.

I wasn't crazy about the merc either, but I am changing it to a 225 opti that I have from my old boat, hopefully by next year I can put a bracket on and close it in.

Keep looking, you shouldn't have a problem finding the right boat and if your ever down my way we can take a ride on this one.

Has a 2000 carb 200, not sure of hours but is clean. Previous owner bought the motor
new and said he never had any problems. Not sure if the prop is right, it is 17p generic stainless.
I spoke with my mechanic today, everything would need to be re-rigged for the opti.
I don't know if I should keep the 200 on it for now and wait for a good low hour 4 stroke or go with my 2004 opti that has over 700 hours.

Also, like the idea of closing in transom and putting a Porta bracket on it. I saw a couple over here in west central fla that way and it would seem like a good idea with all the
shallow areas we have.

Any recommendations are appreciated.

Keep the motor and run it like you stole it its there and runs if it dies it hasn't owed you anything
if the boat needs a transome now then it's up to you if you remount it or go new I personally would just run it that's what I'm going to do with my gas guzzling twins
Plus you already have a backup and used motors don't get that much used jm2c
