Engine height question on Classic 23"

Anyone else able to post what level their cavitation plate is in relation to bottom of the V?

The one above listed jackplate on ebay is a good product at a great price..I had one from same seller on my Mako and it worked great!
On the mako cav plate was approx 1" above v...on my grady it was approx 1.5
On my Seacrafts cav plates were from 1" to almost 1.5 inches above v (Don Herman set up last 2 motors for me)

The av plate is 2" on my 18'. If there is 27.5" from the top of your transom to the keel and you mount a 25" shaft motor on that transom, your av plate would be 2.5" above the keel.
I just went out and measured the distance between the av plate and the top of the mounting bracket that would sit on the transom and actually have 26". This is an older Johnson. Maybe the new Etec's are the same. If thats the case, you could end up with the av plate set 1.5" above the keel...

My transom measures 28 3/4 from top center down to keel, so only a couple inch notch is needed. Also, I have 10 inches from inside of top of transom down to deck, so still will be plenty of height to keep water out.

Saw wont be out for another month, so until then, tons of research, opinions, etc!

Getting the prop at a working height is important, but if the powerhead ends up too low and under water in a following sea or when you slow down or back up, it not only could be expensive but very dangerous. Good luck.

Good point, but Im only lowering 2-3 inches and thats still above the original factory transom height.
Also, with a single, Im saving about 300 plus pounds.

This is what I said to do - measure the motor bracket from where it would sit on the transom to the Cav plate - we still don't know this measurement - I doubt its 25" ?? Like he said if its actually 26" like his and you have 27.5 your good. keep in mind that stilletto prop lets me run mine that high, most props wouldn't let you do that - 1.5" should be good
