Default Mercury 250 EFI on a 23

Anyone running a Merc 250 EFI have performance numbers?

I got a pair of 250EFI's (only going to run one) and a 2.5L 240hp Sportjet block to play with from craigslist . . . just curious what the top end is for folks running a Mercury 250EFI on a 23.

Hey Shrimp....is that the 3.0 block? I've got the 225 efi, 3.0 block on mine, 2003 and it's just about right, I tried to buy the 250 back in 2003 but they would not get off the price so I went with the 225. Running a 17p Vengance prop and I get 30 mph @ 4000 rpm in good conditions. However if I want to kick it in the ass and do the WOT thing it will touch 50 mph on the gps in real smooth water, light load.....it will haul ass. Normal for me is 3800 @ 27 to 28 mph. I'm right at 13 gph at 3800.

Sullivan21 just done a 23 repower with a 250 merc 250 efi about that same year, I have a 225 like that and have the same prop as Don on the race boat and it dose around 47mph top with the 17p and needs a 19p or maybe 21p prop. Cruses well at 30ish around 3800 if I remember right. I love the 3.0 mercury's great motors

Hey bigshrimpin (great name by the way!)
I'm running a 2003 250 EFI Merc, the 3.0L is a beast, maybe not the most gas friendly but it's a solid powerful power plant for sure! We cruise at 30mph at 4100rpm while WOT is about 45-46mph depending on load. We are running a 4 blade 19.

Thanks guys! I'm getting real excited to give it a try. It's a little older 97 motor, but compression is 105psi across the board. I have a 17p enertia that I'm going to try. I have a feeling 19p might be what I end up using.
