88 seacraft 23 cc restore
Hey guys, been on this forum for awhile now and finally got a hull to start working on. Any help is appreciated.
I have an 88 tracker seacraft that looks in decent shape, has new power, gonna end up restoring from top to bottom.. But wanna use it for little this season. The floors are a little soft near the console but im only worried about the stringers integrity. Do you only know when you rip em up? I also hear these years construction were only foam and glass stringers with no wood?? |

Stringers are probably fine, they should be the glass over foam type and generally they last a long time. You need to check the foam in them and make sure it is not wet and soaked full of water. The deck has plywood in it and not the balsa like the older models so it will wick water up faster and rot out quicker. You should be fine to use with the existing stringers but might carry some extra weight if they are water logged. You can also add some drain holes to the bottom of the stringers to help drain it out if a problem but most people end up digging it out and redoing the foam.
