Cracker Horse
A "Marshtackie" is a small (15 hand) native Florida horse that is a descendent of the original horses brought to Florida by Spanish Explorers in the 1500's. The "Cow Ponies" were prized by Chickasaw and Seminole Indians and Florida Cow Boys (Crackers) for their "speed, agility and endurance" (*).
The book "A Land Remembered" has some good excerpts about the "Cracker Horses" along with other interesting stuff about early Florida. (*) See SeaCraft |

Never would have thought your boat was named after Florida's O-fishal State Horse... Nice history lesson.
