What non skid over EPOXY deck?
I'm replacing the deck on an aluminum boat for use on local lakes when I'm not up on the Seacraft, and need some input from others.
I'm using Marine fir plywood for the new deck and laying up glass cloth on both sides with Epoxy resin and giving the edges and any mounting holes a good coat of resin to prevent water intrusion. I'm using Epoxy only because winter is upon me and its to cold for me to lay it up with polyester in my unheated detached garage. With the Epoxy I can do all the layup in my warm basement without driving me out of the house from the stink of styrene that the polyester would produce.. I can make it in sections and install it at my leisure. The layer of cloth on each side is not structural, but only to prevent the faces of the plywood from checking that would happen if I just coated the wood with resin. Can I use a non skid coating over the Epoxy without any drying/curing issues? I like the looks of Tuff Coat but not sure if it would dry properly over the epoxy. This is just a simple 17' boat, but I still want it to look good and last for years so that when I exit the planet my kids can argue over who wants the "Seacraft or the "Starcraft. So, any recommendations as to what non skid to use? Many thanks all.

Go to S-W and get some non-skid or some from a marine store and mix in the epoxy. Worked on one of my past projects

Just make sure you cover all the epoxy, so its protected from UV

If I was using a polyester resin I would roll a coat of thickened gel coat over it like I did on the Tsunami, it makes a nice non skid.Maybe I'll give some thought to using a Marine vinyl deck product like Nautolex Or other brand. Thanks for the info guys its appreciated

You should also talk to Joel Shine about the KiwiGrip. We have a couple of boats here in the yard that have it on their decks and it came out pretty nice.
