After discussions with friends on my bracket height mounting I confirmed we raised it 1” from the given instructions. Going higher than that could change several things as the bracket would provide less standing buoyancy or even change how water flow to feed the engine. All things to consider. For me the higher mounting height has worked out perfect and the performance is unbelievable but maybe I just got lucky.

I have a Hermco bracket for a single motor that is installed on my 23' Sceptre. I have not yet installed the motor but I will soon.

I recall when we mounted my Hermco bracket we did not exactly follow the instructions. I just don't remember if we went an inch higher or an inch lower?!?!? I just know the bolts didn't work well at the recommended height. We may have gone lower because I recall having a discussion and explaining to the guy helping me that if the bracket was lower it would provide additional flotation at rest. I suppose as long as the motor height is at the optimal height, the precise location of the bracket shouldn't matter too much.
