Sound Proof I/O Material ?
The sound proof material I used on my I/O cover 13-14 years ago has finally crapped out. I want to remove and install new stuff. The material I initially used was from West Marine.
Does anyone have an opinion on a good quality replacement and a source ? As it is now, I'll be using acoustical hangers to hold the material in place ( i.e. galvanized based epoxied in place with a nail in center ). Thx - the Springtime launch 'to-do' list has begun.... |

Give Chris at Sounddown a call. They have the best sound proofing material in the business. Your compartment is small, so it should not be terribly expensive.

Another yes vote for the Sound Down .Used it on my Tsunami I/O motor compartment made a big difference in noise reduction. It is heavy as hell but installs easily with the mounting studs they supply.

DAMN ! I called the company back and spoke to a sales guy and bought the lead lined stuff. I missed you by a few days. Thank you anyway. It is thicker than the stuff ( initially, from W. Marine ) I have in there now - so I'm assuming it'll be even more quiet.
Bet your chafing at the bit like I am to get some warmer weather around here ! |
