Default EPIRBs

I?ve spent a lot on self-defense, now I?d like to purchase an EPIRB in an effort of self-preservation. In either of my 20?s, I?d like something with a manual mode over water activated (sinking), which will go in a ditch bag jumping from boat to boat. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

there are several choices, not sure what is best. Mine is an ACR ResQLink. Its manual turn on. West Marine might have something to compare on their site.

ACR has some packages also. https://www.acrartex.com/t/categories/marine

I have the Globalfix (manual) and a Resquefix (plb). Be sure to register any that you get.

Yeah, GFS. Trying to save a $100 anchor seems kinda like a lousy idea in hind site versus cutting the rope and heading home.

Tying the rode to the stern cleat and hitting wot was probably another bad idea.

There was a coastie who said he was on the cutter that found the survivor on tht.
He said they were NW of Cuba and steamed over to find him. It sounded like dumb luck,
but I tried to ask him if they had a radar fix. He did not answer so maybe they have some amazing radar or it was miraculous fate.

He went radio silent after my question.
