Color Match for SeaCraft Yellow

Tried darkening awlcraft yellow with black pigment last April. Based on small samples thought it had turned out closer. For now it was time to get on with it, so used black tape as demarcation and cover the interface between original yellow and redone transom.

Funny, my granddaughter wanted to name our our yellow Sceptre "Banana Boat" when we first got it some years ago. I compromised and named it Chiquita, with a wink my Latina wife.

Thanks Terry - Are you saying you bought Awlgrip Lemon Yellow #h9265 and came close darkening it? I took a digital pic after I cleaned a spot. Looks close to Lemon yellow on this gelcoat chart.

Thx Tim. Based on the Awlcraft 2000 paint chips I chose Brightside Yellow F9316.
When I opened the can I found it was lighter than my yellow which although buffed three years ago looks a bit sunburned. I painted samples about 3” x 6”, progressively adding black pigment until I thought I was close. However on the larger surface of the transom it is still a bit too light. Signature gave up on trying to match the small cutout piece I provided. Even as a reference nothing from Sherwin Williams looked close. So chose from Awlcraft to get on with it. Close enough. Not Saturday night car show quality, but often compliments like from a gal and a guy last weekend.

Just painted my boat from the original yellow to awlgrip federal yellow. Definitely different from the original color. No mustard. Similar to the golden rod.
