Existing Armstrong bracket+25", new 30" OB?
Have an existing Armstrong bracket mounted, it appears to be bracket for a single 25" shaft OB? Mounted is a 25" 2005 Verado 275 right now. With a 4 blade prop, 17P Rev4 it is at perfect height I can do a hard miami vice style turn and no cavitation. If anything I maybe could go up another hole. Have 3 bolt holes can go up on the 275. With a 3 blade prop it cavitates on a semi hard turn. Love the 4 blade prop, gets out of hole quicker, planes lower speed, than 3 blade Mirage Plus gathering dust in garage.
I have the opportunity to buy a 2020 300 Verado with 295 hours, and warranty for another 5 years at a pretty decent price. Already put a deposit down when the lightbulb fell hit, me on bald head....hopefully the cut is not that bad got many scars already up top. -->Can I mount the 30" 300 on this bracket?! I "can" lol, but will i have the needed height to go up? My gut says no I need a new bracket . I def want a 4 blade prop on the 300 so swapping back to a 3 blade not wanted. I'd rather not have to mount a new bracket, but if did....I would have Armstrong add extra float out to the second strake . Perhaps have the platform height raised to fit the tabs 2"(perhaps not that may cause other problem) directly on transom versus my shimmed install. course a hermco would be better. I have contacted Armstrong on a custom bracket with extra float. The pic of the trim tab mounting is not related to the question just thought would should a semi creative solution to mounting short ram electric tabs almost far outboard as can be given the bracket constraints....couple of shims top and bottom. Thanks!

Or a jackplate maybe

Never thought about that option. not many folks use jackplates around these parts. Thanks!!
Going to take a measurement via 2x4 off the keel and then from that to height of the cav plate. have the new 30" motor mounted in the highest bolt hole. then i'll go to a jack plate maybe. saves a heck of lot of work. id consider the work to do a hermco but thats vanished. pondering buying a new armstrong bracket is not appealing. any jack plates you prefer?

Stoner Boat Works also makes a fiberglass bracket.

I like the above bracket. Simple, cheap and keeps the powerhead up and out of the water.

Can't tell exactly what kind of steering you have, but, check your clearance for tilting motor all the way up if you put a jack plate on it. Seastar requires min. 5", I think.

Thanks x3!
I'll check out stoner after this season. If getting a new bracket def have it made 'floatier' than my current armstrong extend the flotation out the second strakes. Almost worth me just trailer'ing down to Fl next winter for that. I did call armstrong said a 12 week lead. rather have fiberglass. part of me says no bracket, have a custom euro transom made up . maybe saw one off a contender. <-april fools. On the steering its a verado, so the steering cylinder on engine is specific/unique/beholden to merc no seastar allowed. ill find out about clearance though the hard way....dont think there will be issue though, but cant picture it boats not here in yard. grabbed a bobs machine extension https://bobsmachine.com/product/vert...sion-brackets/ , says specifically will fit a verado so that made me feel better. Wrap comes off boats around here soon and wont be able to get a dealer to rig who has the merc laptop in a couple more weeks. so no go on a new bracket project right now anyhows. boat and new/used engine are currently at outermost in chatham as of last wed. normal dealer i go 2, told me to pound sand, guess when you sell 100 boats last summer that's who they take care of. think they sold every boat on the lot except 2 last summer. getting the rude treatment with your wallet out pisses me off. appreciate the 411 on stoner and jackplate/extensions.
