1- Learned from a pro painter he would load up a brush with paint and wrap it tightly in a zip lock bag or aluminum foil. if the second coat was done in a short time period the brush was good to reuse. I have done that with rollers as well. This applies to only the one part paint.

2- The second option is to discard the roller, sit back in your chair and admire your work with a cool beverage of choice and think of all the paint thinner you are saving.
For i part paints I have used this stuff and it was good for a couple days. I think it seals tighter than the zip bags.
The fiberglass/ paint guy told me to use a dense foam roller and the guy at the marine store talked me into a short nap roller. For my next coat, I think I will be going to the foam. Good thing I bought a good brush and learned to tip.

Default Painting tips

There have been some good painting tips mentioned here. Was wondering if a better painter than myself would care to capture these and whatever else in a "Painting Stickee".

FWIW
I’m not a pro at painting or Gelcoat but have managed to get thru a few projects .In doing so I found a lil trick that has helped me in sanding out a run or two .I have a bad habit of not only sanding the top of the run but also thru the area around the damn thing—I found if get some dollar store adhesive shelf paper and put it over the run I can sand off the top of the run and when it gets to the point that the run is flat with the paper and the paper it tapered a bit I can pull off the shelf paper and then fine sand without burning the surrounding area

Sooner or later I will get to painting. Still working on the deck, but getting close to glassing it in. This week. This is what I had been working on for the last week.
