Default 23 Sceptre Conversion to CC

I am worse than unexperienced at boat building. However I have somehow got it in my head that I would like to restore a boat. Been looking for a while for a 23' sf. Haven't found one in my price range.

Are there any major issues (other than offending seacraft owners everywhere) when it comes to converting a sceptre to a modern day center console with below features?

Ideally I would have kill box in back, BA livewell at leaning post, rod lockers/storage in the front, and lots of under deck storage.

I may be strung up for even suggesting this......

one thing I left off - plan would be to bracket it with a 300 or 350

Yes your pocket book. And time lost on the water if that matters to you. It would be way cheaper to find a cc and go from there. Also there is the risk that you would just give up after a while and if lucky sell the disassembled just to get some of your money back. Changing a scepter to a cc is a monumental task even if one is retired and has all the time in the world to work on the boat. It’s been done here....Dirt is working on one right now...he’s a pro and it’s not his first re do.

I played around with the idea of adding a small console and converting our Sceptre into a "Savage" layout (see specs on the site), but realized that the open cockpit and room provided in the Sceptre layout actually suited our needs better.

I’d have the second bmajvi on the usability of the sceptre deck space. Plus, that windshield is really great for avoiding wind/spray.

The scepter is a great layout it has more deck space then a cc and more protection from the elements it may not look as cool but it is very efficient.

Will take a LOT more time and labor to build a cap from scratch or modify the cuddy cap. And then there's the deck layout to deal with.
As someone that went down this road before, I would suggest finding a center console if that's what you're dead set on.
FWIW- I have the center console but kinda wish I had the sceptor some days, or maybe both lol!
Be prepared for a monumental project either way if you're doing the work yourself

Didn't think I would like the Sceptre. Saw one up close and now Lil Red18 has a Big sister.
