I have a letter dated May 14, 1968, from Bill Potter Jr that apparently was sent to all SeaCraft owners.
In it he introduces himself as a "new partner" of Carl and Jeanne Moesley at Sea Craft, and enclosed a copy of a news release. In that release, he mentioned that Sea Craft was founded by Carl Moesley 7 years ago. Do the math. It would appear that Sea Craft was founded sometime in 1961. Mr Potter got involved around May of 1968. After his involvement, I didn't hear any more from the Company. A bunch of years back, I decided to see if I could find out if Sea Craft was still around. I found out that the patents and rights to the boat were sold to Tracker Marine, 1915 C. S. Campbell, Springfield, Mo. 65807. The phone number then was 417-882-4444. Tracker/Sea Craft. The folks there told me that they in fact owned the patents and rights, and that the last Sea Craft made was in 1982, and that the last Sea Tracker made was in 1987. That was a good while back, and that's all of the history I ever got on the boat. Apparently, somebody else started building them again, but from this point on, I'll have to leave it up to you young guys to do the rest. I hope that this helps somebody in tracing the History to a truly great boat. One more thing that warranty card is on a 1967 Sea Craft. |
