Default Ormond Beach

Hey

I'm headed to Ormond Beach for a week. Any advice on where to fish or any SeaCraft dealers etc. around there? How about good tackle shops? I'm looking for places to go to spend a couple of hours of quality time away from the family.

I don't believe there are any SeaCraft dealers over there in Ormand. The one closests to Ormand is the Bass Pro shop in south Orlando. If you haven't been to a Bass Pro Shop, I would suggest going, just leave your wallet with your wife before you leave. If you are looking to fish, there are alot of guides that can put you on some inshore fishing for trout or redfish in the Mesquito Lagoon/Indidan River Lagoon, or you can drop some change for an offshore charter, but for one person, it would be pricey. If you are looking for an inshore charter, let me know, and I can give you some suggestions. If you drive about an hour south of Ormond to Port Canaveral, there is some pretty interesting Tarpon fishing going on over there. It's kind of a local secret, but we have some of the best tarpon fishing around over here, and there are a couple of guides that specialize in it. If you need more info, let me know. I don't fish them, but I know some people that do.

John, is your 23 a cuddy or walkaround? I was eyeballing your top. How would it work to put some type of enclosure on it? I have a 1989 23WA with a softtop and a friend makes hardtoops and he was wanting me to buy one from him. I think yours is the 1st one I've seen. What year is your SeaCraft?
Could you send me a better picture than what shows up on the board?

Gary,
My boat is a cuddy, not a WA. You lose some access and fishability toward the front, but the cockpit is huge, and there is alot of shelter from the elements. The boat has full covers too, so in case of rain, you stay very dry.

The picture below is of a WA I was looking at that had a top. It's a little small, but it might give you some ideas.

John, Thanks for the pictures. I like your set up better than the WA. I showed my wife the picture and she said absoulty no, keep what you have as it looks much better. That settles that for now. I could have gotten a cuddy when I bought mine, kind of wish I had now for the extra room.
I have a custom made soft top. It came w/a factory top, was sloppy and loose so I sent it back and had one made. It works good to protect from the cold and rain we get for winter fishing. I will just have to be satisfied with what I have.
