Default Great job Jason

just checked out the site. Came over from Hull Truth and have been corresponding with Trayder (jason) on his project. Don't currently own a seacraft, but did a moderate restore on a '78 23' cc a few years back. Transom, new rigging, and a yammie swsII 225. not a speed demon, but great south florida boat.

my latest is a 25 whitewater that Trayder may post some picks of, eventhough its "off topic" and may require segregation from everything seacraft! Great site!

TX for stopping in Tom. I hope you will check the site out frequently because I know we all can benifit from your experience.

I am sure it has to be a real performance Dog with TWIN 225's. Hehehehehehe. What you do not see are the custom wings so Tom can take flight to distant Fishing Meccas.

The boat is Amazing.

I wonder what the deck fill is in the 3rd picture down?

Tom

Who built the leaning post for you and what are the dimensions of it (mainly looking for width and depth)? Looks like a Birdsall???

Oh yeah I still have Whitewater envy!! I cant believe how nice that came out!!

Thanks for your help

Sorry been away for awhile. Thanks for the compliments on my rig. Some spec's and answers to questions.... Jason, the fill in the one picture is the fwd fresh water tank. 35 gallon installed just aft of the anchor locker under the fwd deck. I initially put it up there as a "trim" tank in case I wanted to get the bow down a bit more, but I find I fill it up every time I go out. It just turned out to be an easy place to install the fill, the tank is forever glassed in between two athartships bulkeads and the center stringers. (the hull has four fore/aft stringers) I can access the hose clamps and fill/vent fittings on top of the tank from the area in the console (a "berth" extends foreward 6' and is a dry, dry storage area) via an inspection port. The vent is on the liner wall just under one of the speakers (speakers make excellent inspection ports for access to stuff...)

The leaning post and t-top were made by Will Garrett Towers in Ft. Lauderdale. Very Very meticulous work. 10yr warranty, and every bit as nice as a BlueWater or Birdsall. I'll measure the set-up this weekend. I wanted maximum rod-holders as well as a fixed back and cup-holders, and fishing-tool holders. He did agreat job.. They mostly do custom sportfish towers and half-towers....they are about 5 minutes from my office and priced at about 1/3 of BLuewater or Birdsall.

The hull without engines weights 1824 lbs on a very accurate scale. (with bracket, top, everything except rigging harness and guages)When it gets snotty, I get beat up a bit more than a heavier boat like Jason's or a Regulator. I'm running 23" Mirage props & here are some specs from flat water in the ICW near my house:

WOT: 5500 rpms 55 gph 64+ mph
4000 rpms 26 gph 51 mph
3800 rpms 21 gph 47 mph
3000 rpms 18 gph 35 mph
planes at about 17 mph

On one engine (other tilted up) top speed is 43 mph, 28 gph, but with the 23's the engine is not real happy. It is better to be full of fuel because at high speeds and light, the chine walking is severe.

Quite happy with the performance, a little overpowering actually is not too bad in this case since the engines aren't working too hard and the mileage is pretty decent. Good luck on your projects, any Q's I can help with, happy to oblige. Also, for suppliers of obscure stuff, drop a note.

Hi Tom
Thanks for the response on the leaning post....I'm trying to find a nice one and that looks like it...My problem is I, as well as anyone else who has the 23 with the big motor well, have limited space between the console and the well. I've been eying up a Birdsall with a fixed back, however it needs alot of room. From the front cushion to the rodholder in the handrail it's about 29" (overall width). I've been told to mount the leaning post about 12" from the bottom of the wheel to the front of this cushion. That leaves me only about 17" behind the leaning post to the motor well.....so I hope yours comes in smaller....
I'm very interested in the dimensions and if you have any more pictures of the leaning post itself or if you have any contact info on Will Garrett (web site, phone numbers) I would appreciate it ……and if it costs less that sounds like a good deal to me...

I guess I could always put on the bracket and gain a cockpit...
Thanks again
Scott
