Can anyone tell me the difference between the 23' Tsunami and the 23' Sceptre? Thanks in advance.

Hey Bigeye....Welcome

The short version ...As I recall the Tsunami is a walk around cuddy (small cabin like a Grady White)and the Sceptre has a full cabin, but something tells me you know that already. Beyond that some of the guys on this board have full brochures with all the facts.
In the General Forum look for the post "show us your boats"...there are several pics of Sceptres there.

I dont think anyone on this board has the Tsunami model.

Thanks Scott. The Tsunami I saw is a cuddy, no walkaround, but maybe the dealer has it wrong and meant to list it as a Sceptre.

Bigeye

I've seen them used interchangeably also.....But I could swear that there was a "walkaround" version that was manufactured at some point called the Tsunami. I dont think SeaCraft would have given the same style boat two different names.

Very interesting....Anyone with more insight to this

Hi Guys,
There is NO significant difference between the Tsunami and the Sceptre models produced by SeaCraft during the 1970's by Bill Potter. The Tsunami model was first introduced in 1973. Then for model year 1975 the name was changed to Sceptre primarily because the tsunami name was "challanged" by another boat manufacturer producing boats in Florida. Tsumami Boats, Inc. claimed their "name" was copyright protected and so SeaCraft was forced to give-up use of this name.
The "walk-around" version mentioned was produced by the folks in Tampa, Fla. - not by Bill Potter. I do not believe he would have tolerated such a ..... well, poorly thoughtout design - just my opinion.

see ya,

Sceptre

Thank you for helping out.....that walk around ... any idea what it was called then??? Those hulls were in the mid to late 80's ???? I agree with you on the design thing .... I remember one sitting outside a Mercury dealership for what seemed an eternity ..... hard to say this but as SeaCrafts go it wasnt a pretty looking boat thats for sure. I had a hunch it wasn’t something Bill Potter was involved with.
Didnt mean to mislead you Bigeye, for some reason I just seem to recall that walkaround being referred to as the Tsunami
