self bailing
Has anyone that has done a complete redo on a 20' considered raising the floor an inch or so to improve the "wet feet syndrome" in the transom area? Everyone complains about water on their toes when several people are simultaneosly in the back fishing, I'm curious if anyone has replaced their floor just a bit higher than it originally was?

Re: self bailing
I have yet to install the deck but did raise the stringers a tad over 3" higher than original to assure (I hope) a selfbailing cockpit. I do not have a surefire explanation as to what works, height wise, as of yet. I do plan on launching the boat after I install the new deck and before I hang an engine just to make sure all is well.

Re: self bailing
Thanks for the input guys. The person that is redoing mine had STRONGLY suggested raising the floor and having the deck drain out the transom more like other boats but I wanted to pass the floor raising question pass some people who had gone down that road before. Thanks for the input/

Re: self bailing
Mark,
The guy who is doing my transom work, has restored his 20'CC and raised the floor. His name is Mike and his shop is called Wildfire Marine in Stuart Fl. (772) 286 1925 He has a lot of experience restoring SeaCrafts and can give you the details on that job. |
