Default 4 stroke maintenance

First off, I hope everybody had a wonderful holiday. Christmas evening I was talking with 2 of my boating brother in-laws. Santa dropped off a late model Stiegercraft chesapeake 25 to one of them. It came with a 200hp Mariner, He wants to use that as an anchor and buy a new larger power plant. (yamaha).. I said "check out the 225 yami 4 stroke".quiet, sips fuel etc. My other bro in-law said the maintenance on the 4's is much greater than the 2's. ie: the valves have to be adjusted frequently and other things.
This is my question:: Is that true ? do the 4's require more attention ? more $$$ each season. Don't the new 2 stroke yami HPDI motors exceed emission requirements ? I would like to tell the Stieger owner any feedback I can. Thanks

4-stroke maitenance oil change@first 20 hrs. and then every 200 hrs or each year, oil filter every 400hrs,or every 2 years. valve check/adjust at first 20 hrs or first month and then check/adjust every 200 hrs/1 year

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Is this valve adjustment in the traditional sense? Or valve adjustment, Japanese Style? Ya know, shimming & stuff like on the multivalve car engines?
