If possible, I would use the old wires to pull the new one through. Solder them together if necessary.

Default Wiring Question

To all 23' Sceptre/Tsunami owners,
On my '82 there is a nav/anchor light mounted to the top of the windshield and the wiring runs through the frame to a point where it passes through the deck and into the cabin to the wiring panel. The wiring is corroded and looks as if it shorted out and some point. Does anyone know how to re-wire through the windshield the way the factory did it? I fear that it requires pulling the windshield apart, but perhaps one of you has a suggestion. Maybe Mr. Potter knows even though this is a CSY-era hull?

Thanks,
ScottM

I had the same issue with my 23 sceptre (1973) Then a friend said, why do you want a bright light in front of your eyes? I think he was right, I pulled out the wires and forgot about it! Marc

Marc,
You have a point, although you can buy a nav light with a lip on the bottom that blocks the light in this situation. However, it would seem that running new wiring through the windshield frame may be the most difficult approach, as I've tried pulling on either end and they don't move too easily. I think what I'll end up doing is buying a light on a 48" pole that I mount on the starboard transom corner. I want to make sure the light can be seen above the canvas enclosure.

Thanks,
Scott
