Default Stupid Question from newcomer to SeaCraft

I have always been a Whaler guy, but nobody is perfect.
I found a 1972 Seacraft 20 I/O model that I like. The question is that I can not find another one in North Texas to compare this one to. My question is that exterior of the boat at midships on both sides have a small amount of "flex" to them. Is this normal for a SeaCraft of this size?
Thanks,
A. Evans

Good to have you on the board and getting SeaCraft fever!

I'd be real wary of that one. It sounds like the integrity of the stringers or their attachment to the hull may be questionable. I have never noticed any "oil canning" on my 20' or any other SeaCrafts I've been on. If you do pursue it I'd have a qualified surveyor check it out thoroughly.

Yeah, I thought so too. I think that the painted, nonskid plywood strips screwed into the floor is proof enough that this one is more than just a project!

Finz2Right, I think you mean the middle of the sides right? If thats the case than yes there can be some flex. The Old SC's consist of a hull, inner liner and a top cap. There is nothing between the hull and inner liner as you may think, the inner liner attaches to the hull along the srtingers. Unlike most newer boats which are foam filled though out.
My top cap is currently off and without the ridgity of being fastened to hull and inner liner it flex's like crazy.
Hope that was a help.
