Default Wiring questions...

Howdy gents-

I bought a new Mako 282 circuit breaker/rocker switch wiring harness to replace the old fuse based system on my Mako 231. I have the panel installed and it seems to be working (cockpit lights, baitwell, auto bilge, etc) but since I don't fully understand what I am doing , I am not so confident that I have the connections to the terminal block wired properly/safely. Also, where does the green wire from the gastank sending unit connect to?? Probably a stupid question but don't want to blow myself up.

If anyone has a basic wiring schematic (for a similar system) I could look at or detailed pictures of their system, it would be much appreciated. Also, any suggestions for reading up on 12v marine electrical systems???

Ed,
Go to the Ancor marine electrical site, ancor products , go to the technical section, it has the wiring codes for wire colors, ols and new. The green wire goes to your bonding system and the pink wire should go to your gauge from your sending unit.
Good luck,
JW

I'm installing a new fuel fill. Is it safe to assume that a ground wire should be run to the bonding system? Can I "cheat" and run it to the fuel tank and from there to the ground block?

I'm just full of questions today...

Otto,
You should bond your fuel fill directly to the tank first, then to the bonding from there. You want the Fuel fill and Tank to be (Statically) as one so that if for some reason the tank became electrically charged you wouldn't be completing the circuit by filling it from an independently bonded source(which is what happens when you bond the fill separate from the tank)

Which means:
Positively charged tank
Negatively charged fill
Gasoline from hose connects tank and fill to complete circuit. Equals Extra Crispy SeaCraft.
Your boat looks great by the way.
