Hooper,
Hate to hear about your motor blowing up. I'm extremely happy with my 1999 225 EFI. It has around 1400 hours now. If it did indeed throw a rod then the block is probably junk. You might get $500 in trade on a new Merc but that's about it. Good Luck.

Default Selling my Mariner 225

I am repowering soon, i hope, I am just waiting on the new engine to arrive. When it does, I will be selling my 1997 Mariner 225hp efi. It has 950 hrs on it and I have had some troubles with it. Having said that, I am not a mechanic, I fish. Therefore what is a big deal to me, may be not be to you....The reason I am repowering is the engine threw a rod and that was the final straw. this season, I was more consumed with getting my O/B back online than where the hot spot was offshore.

If there is nobody interested in it, does anyone know who might be? I am sure that there are people who look for blown engines to fix and re-sell.

There is still October ahead, maybe I can still make it a strong finish.....?

Hooper....not so fast! That lower unit is wioorth about $800. The electronics, efi unit, power tilt, etc are worth some damn good money. Put that baby on E-bay or part it out on E-Bay.
