Hi Ed-

Mt thought is, if there are still blues around, the bass haven't left yet. it has always been my experience that the bass linger longer...

We are still getting good catches of both bass and blues here on the Cape. Monomoy was 55 degrees today and in the mid sixties ten days ago. Better enjoys these fine fall days now! Soon, all of us New Englanders will have to break out the snow shovels... my back twitches at the thought of that.

Ditto what Hoop said. Plus a friend of mine from Maine was tonging bass the other day. They just come thru in waves now.... I also know of 30-40s still north of Hooper. Gonna be a good late run.
Just starting to stack up down here...

Default Bass gone???

I think the bass have left the north shore of Boston. I was out in Ipswich Bay yesterday and saw massive schools of Mackeral about a half mile long, followed closely by whales feeding on them. I caught a bunch of mackeral and tried live lining them but no luck. Everyone seems to think that the stripers have moved south....which seems odd considering all of the bait around.

On a good note...I did catch a 8lb bluefish on a diving plug....that was fun.

Ed - Come down to Boston Harbor; loads of fish of all sizes feeding heavily. Took over 100 fish in the past 2 days up to 30" all on light tackle.

Hooper and John-

You guys are right....The bass are definitely running by in waves. I ran into a friend yesterday that was catching bass from his boat within 10feet of the shoreline on Plum Island. Any further out and you were into mackeral. Of course, when I tried the same technique...I didnt catch anything.

Scott M has also heard that the school tuna are feeding on the mackeral. I think it is time to make a trip to Halibut Point.
