Default Original looking SeaCraft decals

My goal is to gather information needed to produce original looking SeaCraft decals for my boat. Thanks to this site and Alan for sending me digital pics, Ive gained some information. Based on that, I’ve drawn several conclusions on late 70’s decals so far.

1. Font appears to have been gourmand style with non standard character spacing.
2. On light colored hulls, the font was black with grey outline.
3. The interlocking wave logo appeared more freehand style than later versions (see my signature pic)
4. The logo was always placed on the bow end of the word “SeaCraft.” IOW, before “SeaCraft on the port, and after “SeaCraft” on the starboard side.

The only bit of information I am missing is the height of the letters. Any help with that, as well as any comments or information would be a big help.

Bill,

I have all that info. I made "carbon copy's" w/ a pencil. But, I gave them to a guy ( for the size), along w/ my dig photo, who is supposed to get the stickers printed for me, so I do not know when I will be getting them back. I assume within a month at the latest.

If you're in no rush, I'm your man.

The wave logo was aft of the SeaCraft name on each side in the case of my '77 18'.

I managed to make a rubbing of it and took it to a sign maker who simply scanned it in and produced a brand new one for me in about five minutes. I carefully removed the old letters/stickers and put the new ones on the next day.

After about three days, I was fondly looking back on how the boat looked during that brief time that the old stickers were off and the new ones had yet to be applied and decided to take off the new ones for the clean anonymous look. I won't be putting any logo's or stickers on my 20' now that it is nearing completion, but a rubbing of an original taken to a sign maker may be the most accurate way of duplicating the past.

Even under the Fla Sun and without the original stickers your boat will be well recognized! It will have the new "Classic HDS Decal" and be protected by the Green Gucci if Scott will give it up

Thanks Alan, you've already been a big help with the logo picture. I can wait if needed, but I was planning on getting the decal and matching registration numbers at the same time in the next couple weeks so I can use the boat.

It's been regelled and the previous decal was not right so I had nothing to measure. I was hoping a member could easily measure the capital S and I'd be on my way.

Hi Roger,I was going with a Fancy Fl #'s,Be careful as the #'s are supposed to be Block style 3"s.Just another reason to be stopped, all kinds of things can go wrong then.I stuck with the ol'Block style,Not that I run ANYTHING ILLEGAL just don't like to be wasting time.or theirs.Gotta be careful with colors too. Is the Law diff. There ?

Roger,
I've got my decals traced with a pencil rubbing as well. I'll try to measure tonight when I get home or I can probably just mail you a copy if it helps.
