Default New Owner of a 00' 23 Question

Hello all. Actually I purchased the boat last July. I have been reading here since then and have learned a lot. Anyway, I bought a 2000 Seacraft 23 with twin 150 Optimaxes. I had some rpm issues with the engines since I purchased it and was never able to get accurate information from my gauges. My question is..Does any one know the approximate range of the boat with these engines and the skimpy 135 galons of fuel? Oh...for all those curious ones out there my rpm poblems stemmed from some Champion spark plugs. Mechanic test drove it and got it in the right rpm range claims it is a rocket now got it to 63 mph! Thanks. Jack

Yeah, the mechanic replaced all the plugs with NGK's and said it made a world of difference. Before I could only get the RPM's to 4900 and and about 50mph fully trimmed. I can't wait to take it out. I guess I will have to wait until then to figure out my cruise and approximate range. Wanting to chase the yellowfin bite off NC right now.... provided we get smoe good weather. Had her out about a dozen times last year king fishing 25-30 miles. Great boat although I get a little scared reading some of the posts on this board.

Ynot,

What year is your boat?

I too have twin 150 OptiMax's and I regularly get over 2 NMPG with a full load. If it's flat I'll get 2.5 NMPG @ 24Kts.

Sea are flat today off the Texas gulf coast and if I'd had my boat. I'd be pulling back into Sargent after an all nighter 100nm out and getting ready to unload a box full of Yellowfin Tuna.......don't that pi$$ you off!

FYI- Incase you new guys have not seen the thread it at the top of the page in the Repairs section.

I am sorry to hear about your misfortunes with the boat. As soon as I read it, I did a very thorough inspection of my 23. Knock on wood but I have not had any major problems other than the wonderful scupper issue. I have been trying to address it over the past two days. Good Luck.

Ynot,

I plan to do that too. BUT! The way Tracker is behaving with my issues they may void the warranty if you do! Before I ever knew I had a problem I thought about it and desided to wait until the boat was out of warranty to do it. I have the hatch cover picked out and everything. If it wasn't $80 I would have already bought and threw it in a corner somewhere.

Does your boat have the big section of angle along the top of the transom? I know the 2003's do. They are planning to do something like that plus add the two knee braces that the 2003 has....or I guess I should say that was what they told me they were going to do.

DoneDeal,

I don't think the 23 had the same design that I have, so you are probably fine.
