Default Transom Angle

I measure about 13 degrees on my mine......does anyone know what the specs are as to the transom angle on a 1970's 23cc. Thanks

I came up with about 12 degrees on my 23 Sceptre.

OK thanks guys... I've re-measured and re-measured and still get 13 degrees. I'm using a protractor and table saw mitor for my measuring devices. Maybe my boat is different.

Here's how I'd measure it:

1. Hold your framing square so the short leg points up and the long leg points toward the bow of the boat.
2. Place the square so the tip of the short leg contacts the transom and the long legs sits flush against the bottom of the keel.
3. Divide the measurement from the inside corner of the square to the transom on the short leg by the measurement from the inside corner of the square to the transom on the long leg.
4. Take the inverse tangent of that number (calc.exe in scientific mode) can do this and you have your transom angle.

Does that make sense? If not, just send me the measurements.

I knew I should never have thrown away my old Trig book.
A squared + B squared = C Squared.... Got it! thanks Brian

I am new to boat re-building: why is important to know the angle of the transom? Thanks for your answer, aaf

I am making a fiberglass motor bracket for my boat and I was just making sure I had the right transom angle for the mold. I still get 13 degrees so that is what I used.
