I have a 18' seacraft flats boat. I am trying to find any information on the boat, specs, etc. Does anyone have any information they can share?

I have seen 18's with poling platforms on them b/c they are kinda shallow draft but not one made specifically for the flats. Would like to see pics also.

Those poling platforms are also on the Jones Brothers Cape Fisherman's as well as a few other boats in which the designer had to have had zero poling experience to expect it to work.

I used to have a SeaCraft 18' and the notion that you could pole that boat, or that it was shallow draft compared to a flats boat is a stretch: it's an A$$ heavy boat like all the other SeaCraft CC's.
The only boats that I have successfully poled are nearly a thousand pounds lighter than an SC18' and have a lot less freeboard (Hells Bay's, Silver King's, etc).

I think there were photos on here a year or so ago of a 20' that someone cut the sides down on and made it into a "backcountry" boat but I wasn't under the impression that any factory versions were ever made [img]/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]

Here are the photos. You are correct it is heavy but cuts through the chop great. Really have not had problems poling. Will run in 1 foot of water, a little more to float/pole. Looking at upsizing my 90hp but do not know the max hp. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

What year is this boat? What are the first 3 letters of the hull ID#? Although your boat is called a Seacraft, it doesn't appear to be related to the boats on this web site. Perhaps Tracker built a flats boat under the SC name? [img]/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]

I remember reading a post on CSC.com that talked about a guy that had a custom 18 flats boat. However, I think it was from an original 18 that he chopped down. I tried looking for the post without any luck... Too many friggin posts.. [img]/images/graemlins/smirk.gif[/img]

maybe someone else remembers the post..

I remember that post Rich, He took an 18 and cut it down because he had a 23 that he fished offshore and loved the boat and wanted a flats boat with the same hull. He found and old 18 and redid it as a flats boat with a flush fordeck, sweet looking ride... That boat doesn't look like a SeaCraft hull, must be a poser...lol

can you show us a photo from DIRECTLY behind the boat so as to facilitate seeing the "steps" between the planes. On the SeaCraft boats that many of us are familiar with, those "steps" are a vertical jump up/down to the next plane... (I'm sure there is someone on here who can more clearly describe what I am trying to say [img]/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]).

One other thought, and I'm not trying to split hairs here: each company who has owned and produced SeaCraft boats has maintained the same typeface, be it Potter, CSY, Tracker, SeaCraft Industries, etc. The word SEACRAFT on this boat is all different.

IF it is a SeaCraft, it is surely a rare one!
