Default Bracket results

A while back I posted questions about installing a bracket. http://forum.classicseacraft.com/sho...2&Number=15545 Well I just got my A&J bracket installed. The results are nothing. The stern of the boat doesn't sit down any more at rest than it did before, maybe a 1/2 inch. However I think that it did pick the bow up some. It seems like the boat sits perfectly level now. This bracket has the small floatation chamber. For testing purposes, I did fill the floatation chamber with water to the outside water line. The results then was it sat the stern down about another inch, and it then made the boat sit like I wanted it to. At this point I have thought of adding weight to the inside of the bracket, cut port holes in it, or just say p$ss on it and not worry about it. The platforms on the bracket do make for a good place to stand to take a leak. I was going to close up the transom, but I think that I'll leave it as is, as it is real easy getting in and out of the boat.

Nice. Any difference in performance? Any link to A&J?

Steve,
There is a pic of your boat on The Hull Truth in the photo section. It's off in the distance, but it's definitely yours - yellow hull, green bimini, bracket. Check it out. Did you know your boat was on that site?

By the way, it looks nice with the bracket. As long as your getting enough drop in the stern to keep the self-bailing scuppers doing their job, you're in good shape.

Otto: Not much difference in performance. Initially I had lost a little top speed and my cruise MPH to RPM was lower. I lowered the engine one hole now everything is pretty much back in check. It made it ride a little rougher with the trim tabs all the way up, as a result I installed a Permatrim Hydrafoil http://permatrimmarine.com/ and what a difference that made. It rides better now than it ever has. I only use the tabs to level the boat. The web site for the bracket is www.custommarinewelding.com I don't know if I would recommend them. I had a few issues like the starboard notch for the trim tab cylinder was off by about 3/4 of an inch and the paint peeled up around the engine bolts. Other than that it is great, built very well.

Scott: That is my boat. The guy that posted the pic is a friend of mine whom I work with. The guys from work decided to have an "Island Jam" that day. I even got the opportunity to soak my supervisor.
