Default Cape Fear Rods / FireHouse Tackle

Too often the "Bad" is shared on Internet forums, oddly enough there is not too much of that here on CSC but in my mind the "good" is too often overlooked or not mentioned.

As the saying goes, people are more apt to remember the bad about something/one as opposed to the good, or something to that effect.....

Anyhow.....

I wanted to share my positive experience with FireHouse Tackle .

For the past few weeks I have been gearing up for the recent Schoolie Bluefin tuna bite that has been occurring in the NE area. The one item I was missing was a stout Spinning set up for these speedsters.

I am a big fan of supporting your local tackle shop so I went to him first for such an outfit, regrettably he was unable to get what I wanted due to supplier shortages.

I called all over and either the price was outrageous or the item was not in stock and there was a ridiculous lead time. Then I went to the Internet with 3-4 emails sent only one was returned and returned with in a few minutes if I remember correctly. This email was a response with all the answers I was looking for, The right rod, the right price and the all important statement....ITS IN STOCK.

Ordered on the spot and received packaged professionally and on time, actually a week early!!!

Not sure why you bought an SBFT setup, you're never gonna catch anything!

Chuck - this is what we need to go after in early October. Trayder's got the rig all decked out for tuna fishin' now.

I wish I had never heard of that Firehouse place. Because of them I look like a Cape Fear dealer with a forest of rods!

Another good outfit is ReelProShop, same idea, just reels instead of rods. You can contact Tek Watts via email through his site at www.reelproshop.com

BW2030SP70 by chance?!

Hey .... i ran into Mancini at the B-bouy yesterday afternoon. He said you guys found pods of SBFT in CC bay.

It has been real quiet up north, only one great site of a bluefish & tuna combo clearing the water off Gloucester!

Ed said no hookups, but the SBFT were impressed with your rod !

Nick,
I was out there with Ed. They were busting all over the place, staying up long enough to get 2-3 casts into them but we weren't hooking up. Talk about frustrating!

I told Jason he wasn't going to catch a tuna with that rod.

Hey Scott,

Been there a few times. Tried one day for 8 hours straight ... nada.

It started out exciting, turned to severe frustration after going thru the tackle box a few times, back to calming down and enjoying the site of these SBFT picky bastards!

Any idea on what they were eating?

Have some other thoughts .... send me an email.

- Nick

Hey Nick-

I had a very interesting run home after I ran into in Mass Bay. The fog rolled in 3 miles south of Gloucester, so I made a mad dash into the harbor. Figured I would go up the annisquam and hopefully it would be nice & sunny on the other side in Ipswich Bay. Boy, was I wrong....the fog in Ipswich Bay was worse....the last 11 miles home were real hair-raising. I was really concerned when I made it to Merrimack and knew i was in the channel but could not see the jetties.

I talked to a Capt/ John Pirie about the finicky tuna yesterday. He gave me some good ideas as to how to catch them when they feeding like they were on sunday.

Ed
