I am thinking of putting twin 150hp yamaha 4 strokes. on my 23' with a hermco outboard bracket. Is this to much weight, and horse power.
Are ther any simple tricks to checking for transom rot. I am a good at do it your self. This i need some help on |

Michaelg, that is perfect HP for that boat. If you have a need for speed you could even go 175 or 200. But do the transom first regardless. And do some searching around the site, you'll find plenty of info.

I put the Seamark bracket on my 23 with twin 135 Rudes. The floatation is 800 pounds I believe. My waterline is about 2" up from the chine. Also how bad is your transom? The full width bracket will stiffen up your transom and maybe you can put off the repair for a while. Talk to Hermco about it. I had some soft spots that I cut out from inside and I glassed in new ply before mounting the bracket. I would definately get this bracket again...the ride is great.

Is your seacraft a center console?
Did you do the work youself? Did you get the enclosure system as well. Can you send some photos. Thanks. Michaelg |

It is a 76 23 cc that was twin IO
No enclosure needed since I had a full transom already. I supervised and directed!! but physically did do the install of the bracket. go to web page referenced on this site and go to the classic seacraft album (2nd one down) and I have 2 folders on page 3 I think. Send me an email if you have trouble and I will send pics Bill |
