I'M TRYING TO GET A ROUGH IDEA ON WHAT IT WOULD COAST TO CUT OUT THE SPLASH WELL AND ENCLOSE THE TRANSOM LIKE SOME OF THE OTHER OWNERS HAVE DONE. I'M LOOKING FOR HELP SO WHEN I PRICE THE GLASS WORK HERE I'M NOT GETTING RIPPED OFF. THANKS FOR ANY HELP OR PHONE #'S ANY WERE IN THE SOUTHEAST. I DON'T MIND DRIVEING TO GET GOOD GLASS WORK AT A GOOD PRICE

Your question leaves many questions in order to get you some numbers. It's like body work on an automobile. Once you get started and open things up, sometimes there is surprises and other issues that need correcting. Insurance ajusters need to see the vehicle. I'm sure the boat repair establishments also will need to see your hull to give you a ruff idea of costs

Some issues you need to consider:

- What type of bracket are you using (Single or Double, Fiberglass or Metal)
- What hardware needs replacing
- Plumbing changes or additions (Livewell, Self Bails,Bilge etc)
- Don't forget a bracket extends out a few feet and you will need longer Electrical Cables, Wiring Harness, Shift Cables Hydrolic Hoses or Steering Cables, Fuel lines.
- Painting (are you doing the work or not) Outisde and Inside the new Transom, Deck Joint, Cap, Inner liner)
- Any Deck issues (repairs needed)and painting, non-skid
- Fuel Tank and Lines (your boat is 26 yrs old, it'time)
- Engine de-rigging and remounting after

These are just a few things for thought. I would make a complete list of what you want done and then have it for each glass guy so you have estimates that are comparable. I'm going to take a stab at it and guess $2500.00. This is only to cut out the well and top the transom. As in the previous post, custom baitwells, changes mid-project, finding detached stringers, rotted wood and additional work(like adding rodholders) is going to cost extra. PM me if you want to talk to a good guy here in Sarasota who is currently doing my boat. Hopefully I can upload some add'l pictures this week.
