Default Need help with 1986 WA Cuddy

I have a box in the floor in front of the engines. I think it's a bait well. There's a pvc pipe in the stern of the box that looks like it has been broken off. There are no other holes in the box. I found a ball valve in the transom that drains, (fills ? ), the box. The po has installed a bilge pump with a hose to reach over the transom to pump the water out.
I'm trying to find out how the original plumbing was set up & tracker can't help. They referred me to you. We are restoring this boat & she's a real runner with twin 135 Mariners. Any help will be graetly appreciated.
E mail for photos of the box if that will help.

There are a couple members with the same boat as you, so hopefully they can help you out.

I have a 86 walkaround not a cuddy it has a smaller cabin but My box is back like that and I don't belive it had a system to fill just to drain like yours. I will not be using the box as I have a bait tank that will mount over it.
It may have been an ice box for fish or bait. I will cut mine out and close the second drain hole. It makes great access to my bait and washdown thru-holes. Also the back up builge pump will be right there.

Thanks Mike.
Sounds like mine. I found out yesterday that the valve will fill & drain. The problem with filling is it keeps filling into the boat. The bilge pump quit & I had to make for the dock as the boat was taking on water. I have to find the correct way to plumb it or use it for an ice box.

I'm going to use the through hull after all.Don't know what I was thinking..To drain the new bait tank. Perfect location. I have move the new tank towards the bow and now have that great hatch left for the access. I have trimed the old tank out so that about an inch and a half of it are left to act as ribs for structural stiffness.
