Default WANTED: Tsunami/Sceptre Windshield frame

What the heck - can't hurt to ask.

I would like to get my hands on a windshield frame for a 23' Tsunami/Sceptre - maybe someone did a conversion to a center console and has it laying around or a hull is being parted out. Thx.

I am considering replacing mine, it's not in horrible shape but, it was painted poorly so it's started to flake a bit. The glass in one pane also cracked this spring. Finally, the sealant that they used to bed the glass (not a gasket) stains everything black. I have to compare the cost of repairing what I have to replacing it.

I bookmarked this place http://www.americanmarine.com/index.html when some one else on this site suggested it.

If you find out a ball park price from this place or anywhere else, please share it.

I Contacted American Marine about a month ago for windshield replacement- They are the company who origanally made the windshields for Sea Craft back in the 70's- prices can vary depending on what you want- powdercoated etc.- they quoted me anywhere from $2500 to $3500. They make a very nice product.

Thx guys. I think I was the originator of the American Marine info - I re-did my entire windshield ( less the frame ) a few years ago - Mive Avery is a great guy to deal with.

However, the price back then, as it is now, is cost prohibitive for me just for cosmetics - my frame is solid as a rock w/ all new parts - w/ better tahn stock window dogs to lock the windows down . However, the pitting from galvanic corrosion ( where there were SS bimini clips on the frame ) is an eyesore for me. I was hoping to find a nice 'lake boat' w/ an old, but clean frame. And, powder coating or painting is not an option as I hear that the movementt of the multi-pc frame will eventually chip the finish. If $ were not an issue - I'd own a new frame.

PS: I recommend buying every part for the windshield from American, including the bedding material. Also, ask Mike about the window dogs that are heavy-duty and shaped like a handle instead of the cheesy pull-rings. It is worth the little extra effort to retrofit them in.

If I have spare parts when I decide what to do with mine, I'll post them here. It sounds like you'd need to strip them first though. Plus rebedding the glass.

I need to replace the center and possibly the other two front sections depending on some of the modifications done to try and retrofit my non opening center piece in to an opening one. I also need to rebed all my glass, replace one pane and strip the paint. By the time I do all of that, it may be cheaper to spend the money on a whole new windshield.
