1970 CC seacraft 20' project boat

looked at a 1970 20' CC project boat today.As expected the boat needs new transome.the boat showed cracks on the outside of the hull at the chimes or outside of the stringers that had stains of weeping dirty water.I have seen alot of stringer replacement on this website but none that included outside hull repair.Im sure this boat has had the crap beat out of it for 1/2 glass or more to show this kind of stress.anyone rebuilt one like this? My 70' SF had stress cracks all over the keel area. The stringers were foam filled glass. Bought boat motor and trailer for $1500 in 94' spent a year and a half on restoration and 30K later have a perfect boat.
When I had the boat flipped over, I filled all the stress cracks with filler. Then used Hi build Awlgrip 545 primer.
No cracks to this day. The glass in the keel of my boat is
a half inch thick. Just Do-it!!!
Re-doing a boat is blood sweat and tears. But when it is done you will be proud to have a one of a kind.

Question, Does your 70 have under the gunnel rod storage?

Hi Steve,
Yes there is under the gunnel rod storage.
When the cap was cut off to replace the deck, it gave all kinds of space for rod holders. I glassed in 1x2 gussets
where I wanted to place the starboard holders. The original ones were teak. I had Jet Tech in Daytona copy the teak ones
and make the plastic ones. They are hard to see in the pic.
But you can make out the gaff and boat brush holders on the
forward platform. I can carry 12 rods, 6 on each side.

Hey Ken your 20 looks really nice.The 20 seacraft we are looking at is complete with console and a trailer that would have to be replaced.No moter and they are asking $1600,00.I made an offer of $300.00 and the owner said he would consider it.Ken I have a 1973 23' seacraft CC and the 20 project boat would be for seacraft Steve who is my nephew.Thanks again for the good info.Keith

Man Keith that's a lot of work. How much is the boat and what else does it come with. There all a labor of love but you have to draw the line somewhere.

Good morning John.Yes this would be a big project.I built an RV6 experimental airplane from the ground up and it took 3 years before I flew it so I no about the time thing.I think it would be worth $300.00 just to take it apart and check it out plus I can get a feel for what I will need to do when the 23 gets torn down for rebuilding.If we get it you will have to come over and do some cutting and grinding, now that sounds like fun.Keith

Also what size merc is that? That seems to be a touchy subject is how much power to put on the 20".

200HP Carbed Merc. Tricked-out by my Merc. Mechanic.
64mph WOT on the GPS. 21 inch Laser II prop, 24inch Bennett tabs.
That is just by myself and 1/2 tank of fuel. It can hold 80 gallons.
I will take more pics and send them to you.
