Default Best seats?

I'm starting to accumulate items that i'll be using on my Tsunami restoration and although i'm getting a little ahead of myself,i have a question on seating.
I plan on having two seats up front,captains/passenger,and having a 120 qt cooler(fishbox) behind one seat, and a 48qt behind the other, both with cushions for extra seeting.
In your opinion, what seats are the most comfortable for all day trolling(8-12hrs)and maybe an underpower ride in anything from flat to 3' and over water conditions.
Price is somewhat of an issue, and wanted to keep both seats in the 200 to 250 dollar price range for the pair.
Presently,i'm using fold down seats by Wise, and although comfortable in the beginning,(5 yrs ago)the foam is starting to flatten out.
The Centric sas seats,by attwood look nice, but at $300.00 each, they're too expensive for my likes.
Any recommendations,or info on results, either good or bad,or price, and best place to buy would be appreciated. Thanks all.

Good topic! I never though of asking this question but I am on the same quest. I installed a Todd Leanig post when I first got the boat and it works well, But afer 5 or so years I am getting older and looking for a seat. I would like to find a seat/ leaning bolster combo. I have not started shoping yet but I will be keeping an eye on this post.

I like these although pricey,

To replace this.

If you are happy with the seats you already have , get them
recovered. I had my leaning post and console seats redone
with new foam and fabric for $125.00
Every town has an upholstery shop. Just a thought.

I spent a lot of time thinking about this. [years off & on]

For price & comfort. The Todd 1000's fill the bill. $250ea.

Don't forget the pedestal. everyone who sit's in these love's them. They are coilover shock suspended
.

Hi John,

My 2 cents on experience with a fishing buddy. This guy can and will and has ripped out any pedestal seat . Some passengers just dont get the concept on how to sit in a pedestal(go with the flow man .... the flow!!). If there were better backing plates in the floor, it would be a matter of time before the floor pulled up!

Anyhow he is and exception (i hope), but my point is maybe reduce the lever pressure of a long pedastal by placing on top of a fiberglass box for storage, etc.

I decided for now that a cooler seat is good enough for any passenger and that no-slip mat that they sell at Home Depot works great to keep in place. I have my pedestal and know how to sit in one ... it is all about the flow!

This way you can spend up to $500 on your seat! and throw them a cooler ...

If you want my buddy to check out your chairs let me know ....

- Nick

CSICKNICK is right. The seat boxes will reduced the leverage on the pedestals.

Well worth the time and effort, especially considering that I am the one who had to reglass CSICKNICK's seats after his buddy kept tearing them out!

I agree as well, you also build them as coolers I think some newer ones did that, I know I have seen them.

Thanks for the laughs and info guys, you must have the same friend that used to fish with me,years back.I actually had to replace the screws with ss toggle bolts on his pedestal.

I'm not going to be using pedestals on the seats,i'm either going with a s.s or alum. four leg frame, fastened to the deck,or a two leg frame that would mount to the deck, come up and and then bend over to the side, and somehow be fixed to the gunell cap.I've also given some thought to mounting the seats on some glassed boxes to serve as storage.

The only use this boat will get is for continuos trolling on the great lakes for salmon. We need all the space we can get for tackle,so i wanted to be able to somehow slide spoon boxes under the seats without pedestals being in the way.

We normally have over a thousand spoons, hundreds of stick baits, flashers, dodgers, flies, dipsy divers etc.on board,so space is at premium.I'll have to just keep on brainstorming until something looks right.

I also agree if you can ditch the pedastal you gain because it is wasted space anyway. I started building a box leaning post for mine but scrapped it when it got to heavy. I started with 1/2" ply and 4x4's. It was more of a mock up anyway. Next time i'll do better.
I have no affiliation with these guys but it is a good place to look for ideas.
The picture looks like what you are looking for.
