you know ..it's kind of funny I posted this two days ago asking about an old boat I had bought..I go to the site that specializes in old Seacrafts and ask the question.."what do you think"..90 viewings later know one will even reply to say it's a piece of ****.I know you offshore guys couldn't give a rat about a sterndrive boat..but this boat is in fresh water and is staying in fresh water..do many participate in this site or are they mostly Lurking.....not trying to be rude but I really thought my first post would get a response of some sort...You guys have a good evening........steve

As one of the site moderators, I welcome you to CSC and glad to see you chose a SeaCraft. Generally, a first post would include a picture of your '71 and a little personal introduction Even your profile is blank? Be aware, many viewers of your post are from lurkers and many members only visit the site a couple of times a month if that.
There are a few members with 23'with an I/O. Your 20' with an I/O is not a common combo. So you need to give your post time to be read and responded to.

BTW: In two days you have not signed in to the CSC owners list nor have you contacted me for a 1971 Potter Built HDS, so don't get your skivees in an uproar

Welcome to CSC motorheadmarine, I'm also one of the sites
moderators for Performance. Were sorry you felt slighted,
but we do not live and die by this web site. As Capt Chuck
stated give a little, get a little. Tell us more about yourself and maybe you will have a little more response.
When you say fresh water, is that in the US?, Bulgaria?,
or Antarctica?. We all love Pics and alittle more info before as we say "the dog sniffs your butt".
Have a nice day, Capt. Ken

Motorhead,

Welcome to CSC. I have a 1970 20CC (outboard) with the same original gelcote and also a freshwater boat. It's the most amazing 20 footer ever built and you'll love it. The I/O adds significant weight to the stern and take up room for fishing. Most guys here fish and that may be a deal breaker for most. However, it will be a terrific power plant for you. If you get tired of it, you can always install a bracket and an OB. The good news here is that you have a classic full transom, something most CSC member covet. I have a 1971 Seafari (cuddy) with an I/O and am saving it for a future restoration.

I hope you gain a lot of knowledge from the content of this site as well as input from it's members. I would, however, take Capt. Chuck's advise and introduce yourself, where you like to boat and how you use your boat. You will find how to post images by using the sites search feature. It's easy really. We'd love to see your boat. Also put up some information on your profile.

Best of luck with your new ride and we look forward to seeing you around the site.

Yikes! Not the best method I've seen for getting information.

BTW, if you search the site you'll surely find what your looking for.

MHM I am in the middle of a restore on a 1969 20 Sea Craft with the I/O package, this was my dads boat when I was a kid and I had to have it. Many gripe about the I/O taking up too much space in the back of the boat, personally I will sacrifice a foot of room where the dog house sits in return for a full transom, if you have ever been in the outboard version of this boat you might be a little unsettled the first time you bring the boat off plane especially if you are in any sea's I toyed around with the idea of going outboard and one major consideration was cost, I just bought an entire package for $ 6200.00 that is including fresh water cooled, I figure I can blow the motor 2x and replace it before I reach the cost of what a 150hp outboard will cost. Besides majority of them are outboard so we have something special

I appreciate everyones response..I know I/O's are not normaly the favorite of anyone getting SALTY..They do tend to be a lot more maintenance than an outboard..(the outdrive and transom plates)...Now that i've gotten a response from you guys, don't hate me when I tell you I own a boatyard..I didn't post here to promote business(we have plenty here on Lake Lanier)I really wanted to know what you guys thought of boat(Seacraft 20' I/O)..I think we will use as shop boat...One of the few things i'll probably do is put some kind of fat (boatfriendly)rubrail in place of original..I'm looking forward to warmer weather and getting some use out of this boat..One day we may do a minor restore to boat..but it has to be at back of line because doing this one, won't pay the bills ..We are just starting a Bertram 31 restoration ,it will help pay the bills..last week coming back from water I saw what appears to be a 23' Seafarer with O/B in a buddys boatyard..not sure of details ..not positive of model..I was driving by..I could check details if anyone cares ...This is a good forum and next week I'll take a couple pics of boat and post...I've been doing this boat thing since a teenager..now i'm 52....you'd think i would know better by now...one of my customers is 28 finds funding and opens new Banks all over U.S.....can you say "children stay in school" life keeps picking up speed.........Steve
