Default Question about fiberglass repair

Hi, What is the minimum tempeture that fiberglass will set up in? I am eager to get started on my new console but the outside temp reads 11 right now.any input would be appreciated

sounds like you need one of those propane heaters like Strick is using (aiming right at your work)

The epoxy I'm using says ideal temps is in the mid 70's. There is a special hardner one can buy for working in 50 degree temps. I would think that 11 deg is just too cold.

I think you will need to provide some heat at that low a temp. Those heaters are really good. Mine is acting up so I'll be getting a diesel one next.

Last year I held off until March then bedded some stringers outside on another boat. Fast cure epoxy cures slow in March! I am waiting for some nice weather to do a Transom on the 20SF.

If you make a tent like hermit . . . it'll dry, but you'll have "resin-head" for a week. Make sure you open up the tee-pee when you're laying up the glass.
