Key West
We are heading down to Key West/Big Pine anyone have some tips/spots down there for grouper or snapper. Weather permitting we will do plenty of trolling Need some suggestions for snapper/grouper spots! We are going to try to book a trip with Delph Fishing one day. We have never fished on our personal boat down there! Thanks

Re: Key West
Ralph and his son Rob sure do know where the fish are in key West
Ralph I beleive is done for the season and may not be back till October but you should check. I was Rob's 1st charter way back when and Rob's 1st boat was a red 23 Seacraft, now he's upgraded a bit since then. My buddy called them a couple of months ago to arrange a trip and when he was told the cost we all said OUCH! The fuel prices have just put it out of reasonable reach for us for 1 day of fishing. But he is one of the best and I would highly recommend him or any of his sons. I was told that he charges for the trip and then he adds on the fuel of what was used that day. Yesterday I went out with a buddy in Key Largo on his 23 whaler with a 200 opimax tha is great on gas Fuel 20 gal @ 5.30 $106 4 bags of chum bait etc $35 Ice "some beer water" $25 Abnd we just went out to the 1st reef in 50 ft of water. I can imagine the cost is to run twins on a 25 to 30 open and chase the fish around I think I am going to do plenty of back country fishing in the future. |

Re: Key West
yeah i spoke with Rob and it was going to be 850. plus fuel which he said to do a snapper/grouper trip we would burn around 100 gallons so I think that is a little out of my price range...He now fishes out of a 40 Seahunter with Trip 275 Verados! We will be fishing out of the 20 Seacraf t......

Re: Key West
Call Diego Toiran, who is a member on the site here. He can put you on yellowtail as good as anyone - snapper fishing is his specialty and jigging wrecks is another thing he is really great at. 305.747.0114

Re: Key West
Run down to the end of the bar of off Boca Grande and anchor either on top off the bar or the deep side depending on the current and chum up some yellow tails.Keep the chum flowing and free spool some live pilchards or cut bait back with the current, you'll get bit.Put a live pinfish on the bottom for a grouper or mutton.
