Cockpit drains / scupper setup
Does anyone know what new parts (where to buy them) are required for the origional setup of cockpit drains and scuppers for a 71 20' sf?
Are there any modifications to the origional setup that are recommended? Is it possible to use the pingpong ball scuppers with the origional setup? Andrew |

Re: Cockpit drains / scupper setup
1. To re-do the original set-up, you need the 1" bronze tubes, sealant (like 3M 5200), and a flaring tool to flare the second end (Moeller makes one, someone on here made their own). Some people have said you can get the tubes from a Boston Whaler dealer. I got mine from Jamestown Distributors (also got the flaring tool there).
2. Many have switched to scuppers through the transom. You would have to patch the holes on the bottom of the hull. 3. No, can't (or shouldn't) use the ball scuppers for the original set-up. |

Re: Cockpit drains / scupper setup
Actually, My deck drains through the corners in the cockpit, and u rubber tube connects it to a fitting that was in the transom.
I have no holes on the bottom of my boat I will submit pics later |

Re: Cockpit drains / scupper setup
Andrew,
I put mine back as original with the orig hardware. They work fine. I was able to add the pink pong ball scuppers over the transom fitting. It seems to help. I installed new water hoses all double clamped and sealed. I do notice that most of the time there is water in the hose but not so much on the deck as the transom fitting side is @ or below the water line. Let me now if you need specific measurements but I think you can get the cockpit drains and the transom fitting most places. The one mod guys seem to make is going straight out the transom maybe someone else can share that experience.

Oh...guess that was the Moesly set-up. Nice. I like that better than the ones on my 73. Learned something new.
