Default bracket

found a great deal on a bracket however, are there specific brackets for specefic transom angles---1971 20 sf.Also what kind of glass is 1708. I used thick woven mat on my transom with west epoxy, and on another site they said you couldn,t do that. I rolled it real good with plenty of epoxy.after I read that, I put 2 layers of ounce and a half over everything. Seems really strong, hope to god I don,t have to redo this. Thanks

Yes, brackets are set up for specific transom angles.

1708 is known as stichmat. It is 17 oz. cloth with a layer of 3/4 oz. mat (that's what the 08 stands for) stitched to it. The cloth is oriented so the strands run 0/90 (parallel & perpendicular) to the edges. There is also 1708DB that has the strands running on 45 degree angles from the egdes (45/45). I'm sure someone else can explain it better.... It essentially elimintes the need for alternating layers of cloth and mat because you are putting both down at the same time.

You're technically not supposed to use epoxy w/ mat, but it won't hurt anything. The mat has binders in it that desolve when laminted w/ polyester resin...it's designed to do that. I use mat w/ epoxy all the time and it's fine.
