Default My Tsunami is finally finished(just about)

Well, after a long couple of years,I'M 99.9 percent done with the restoration of my 74 Tsunami.
I didn't expect,in the beginning,that it would be such a project.
I didn't go to the level of finish, that others on this site have done. Some of the restos done by members such as Strick, Bonefish, and others absolutely amaze me.

I've done a couple of lesser restorations and transoms before, but nothing like this.Funny how you look at a boat sitting in a field for years(like I did),and say to yourself,"it really doesn't need all that much work".Yeah right!.
All i have to do is replace the transom, fix a couple of soft spots in the deck, shoot it with some paint, etc etc.I sure found out quickly how wrong I was.
How did I! know that the deck, the engine beds, the hatches, and all the other cored stuff would be turned to peat moss?

I have to say for the most part,it was enjoyable, but trying to do all this stuff in the winter.in a tarped in enclosure, didn't make it easy.

So my thanks to all of you,who provided such good information, tips, and techniques.you were all a huge help.
Here's a few pictures to bore you with.
Still have to finish up the bottom paint, and put the boot top stripes on it,but its almost there.

Thanks,all
Another 35 years? Hmm,let's see,I'm not so sure that I'll be able to steer when I'm ninety five years old.

As for the arch,it was made by Atlantic Towers.I went with them because I got a gift certificate for a good chunk of dough at Atlantic.
As it turned out,I'm very happy with it.It's built very well, and was a custom made unit for the Sceptre/Tsunamis.I didn't want to go with a fit all type product.

There are lots of good arch fabricators out there who do beautiful work.
One of the members on this site,(Pipe Dreams Marine)makes some awesome looking towers and archs.

Looks awesome...I love the red.

What kicker bracket is that...and what steering arm to the kicker??? Does it just tilt up with a second helm???

Bayouboy,
Thanks,The kicker bracket is made by Adventure Marine,
www.adventuremarine.net/product-catalogue/index.cfm?CategoryID=6&do=subcat
I wanted a stationary bracket, and this one was the best I found. It's made of 1/4" aluminum, and is incredibly strong. They were originally made for one of the Yamaha boat lines,by this company, and Yamaha gave them the permission to sell them.

The 8 hp kicker has power trim, and tilt,so I can tilt it out of the water with a push of the switch on the control box, when I'm under power with the out drive.

The steering connector rod is made by EZ Steer,
www.ezsteer.com/ and is connected to the drive and outboard with quick connects(like an air hose has). The rod is two pieces that slide in and out of each other.

It self adjusts,so when you raise the kicker, the rod expands, and when you lower the kicker the rod slides back to where it was.
It has spring loaded detents that are set at eighteen pounds before they slip,so that the rod stays the same length when you steer the kicker.

These are extremely common on boats on the great lakes that run kickers for Salmon trolling.
