Tank supplier for an '83 20SF & fuel pickup issue

Hey guys – I am having an issue where the motor on my rig (2001 Yami 200HPDI) is starving for fuel running hard (3.6K+). Fuel bulb is getting sucked flat. I’m thinking it is the fuel pickup valve out of the tank. (other thoughts welcome here) I am wondering 2 things – 1) are the valves universal for tanks or am I going to need to get a tank-specific pickup valve and 2) if they are tank specific, does anyone know who supplied tanks for an ’83 20sf? I was told be a buddy that it is likely to be from Florida Marine Tanks, but wanted to confirm. Also - any thought on how challenging the a task replacing the fuel pickup is? Thanks

First thing I would do is check the Vent, make sure its clear. < Critters like insects can clog the vent > Also maybe run with the Fuel cap off with a Clean towel stuffed in gas fill to make sure its not a vent issue. Make sure the Vent hose is 100%. IF the vent is clear and you still have the problem I would then set up to drain the tank and remove the pick up tube. If you block the tire and adjust the trailer jack so you have one corner of the tank to the lowest point near the pick up tube, then once it stops draining fuel pull the tube and use a temp rigg to purge the rest of the fuel thru the pick up hole from the low corner.
I'm not sure on your boat how the removal of the tube is But Trace line back to tank Most tanks use a common Hardware
BUT the Pick-up tube can be different. If you can get to it make sure you have the Height above it to pull before you start. Once its out you can see if the screen is clogged.

I have cleaned other types of pick up tubes in equipment over the years. Be sure to use a thread lube when you go back Teflon Tape etc. I always use a product called Fuel Lube, it comes in a 1/2 pint can But if you visit your local Airport A+P Mechanic I bet he will give you some to do the job, A dap goes a long way.
