Default 71 -20SF- CC Fuel tank location

I just purchased a '71 20SFCC , the fuel tank is above deck, located in the console and under the forward seating. Is this correct? Everything i've been reading in posts talks about fuel tanks that are below the deck.

Jimmar welcome aboard! I had a 69 with an above deck tank and a 73 with below deck tank. not sure the exact switchover but the below deck tank is bigger if you are worried about that.

Mine is a 1970 cc and it is under the console and is 40 gals. I replaced mine years a go with a stainless steel one of the same size and put in same location under console.
