Throttle & Shift Cable Lentgh??
Hello all,
I have a 1998 23' seacraft CC with twin 150 merc efis. I need to order new shift and throttle cables, but I am not sure what length to order. I looked on the cables that are currently installed, but didn't see any numbers or identifiers. Do any of you know what length cables to order? Thanks as always, Jeremy

Re: Throttle & Shift Cable Lentgh??
Jeremy,
The cabling you'll need to order is essentially the length of the outer housing of your current cables; anchor point to anchor point and not overall length. Take into account the adjustment capabilities on either end. If there's any question in your mind order the next longer length. If you can get within 6 to 12 inches of the outer cable with confidence, that will be the one you want to order. If there remains a question in your mind and there is room or space to lay up an extra foot or two of cable, then order the next longer length. I don't believe you said whether or not you have the center console or scepter. Personally, I have a scepter. Just guessing, 2 feet from the throttle binnacle to gunnel plus 13 feet to transom plus 4 feet to mid ships plus 3 to 4 feet to carburetor and 3 feet to transmission would suggest 22 and 24 foot gear shift and throttle cable length in my case. Do yourself a favor and measure your current cables; anchor point to anchor point.

Re: Throttle & Shift Cable Lentgh??
Thanks for the response! By CC I meant center console. I would like to replace the cables this weekend, so I am going to guestimate the length and order them. If they are not the correct length I will measure the cables currently installed and try again next weekend. I was hoping someone here knew the length to save me some time.
Thanks again!

Re: Throttle & Shift Cable Lentgh??
add distance from helm down to the deck, then across the deck to the hull side, then down the hull side to aft corner, then corner to center of transom. Add all that up, round to next higher foot, then add 3 ft for a movement coil in front of each engine. That'll ballpark you real close.
