Love the 18!! Come on over . . . Going to repower with a 90 and build a livewell splash gate. 150 is good power, but in Buzzard Bay . . . I can't seem to get many days where I can cruise over 18 - 22mph, so I'm going to power and prop this boat for a slow ride. Leaning post is being replaced by a fishbox seat.

If you end up opening up the fuel tank hatch, take the tank out and cut out the front wall of the tank coffin. Glass the peice you cut out to the stringers as a support and you can slide the tank forward 22". I did that to mine and it was well worth the effort. If your tank is shot and need a new one, you can now squeeze 65 gallons in there. That farther forward center of gravity will eat that Buzzard Bay chop up!! Maybe even better than your little red one

My brother's 18, Part I, is '86 or '87, and that 38 gallon does not go very far on his '95 OMC 150. Runs nice but all too often to the gas station. I'm liking the idea of added fuel forward. Fortunately he's not having structural issues just yet. Makes a lot of sense though.

BTW, we're looking to repower if anyone should hear of anything... Looking to go four stroke, without adding a bracket. Thanks. Vezo, Part II.

on the 2 18SF's (87 and 89) that we have had (150Johnson, 140Zuk, and 130 Yam), the fuel tanks were both 45gal. I agree, the balance on the 87 would benefit from the weight being more forward by enlarging the tank. The 89 was a perfect balance with the 130 Yam and the 45 gal tank. The 80's pre tracker 18's are tanks and weight in the front would improve an already great ride.

Hey Big...Batteries under the console seat and a plumbed front well for fish AND ballast make it even better. Real easy to do the plumbing with the front of the tank coffin removed.

76Red-I agree on the batts under the consol. I had 2 12V crossed to 24V trolling and then another battery for starting all under that console!
