Default newbie with ?'s about the 23 savage

hello to all looking at a 23' sea craft savage was wondering performance. wieght ride is it the same as the cc want to move forward with purchase and repower her with a 225-6 tdi vw engine shes brand new was wondering what that engine would do in that boat the tranny is a zf45 with 1.53:1 gear would that be adequete

You need 300 hp to get near a 20 n cruise....anything less you will be very sloooow.

theres one on tht that is listed with 240hp doing 22knts diesel also another with a 240 yanmar doing 26 knts

the numbers i stated were for inboard cc not any thing with a cuddy cabin anybody have any time on one of the boats how they handled are they a dry boat or would i need scuba gear to run it with the weight of a cabin on the bow

what are the pros and con's about this boat i've heard there very rare any numbers on how many where made? also i heard these ride bow heavy and like to suck up air in the prop pocket is that true? can it be corrected if so? also what size props do they run out of the box? sry for all the ?'s really like the look of the boat just want to make sure i'm not making a mistake on the purchase.

albemarle put a couple of these vw diesels (TDI)

in their 24 ft. center consoles. Maybe check with them. It is not really the horsepower but rather the torque that you are interested in.

Unfortunately you're asking questions about a rare boat, especially one that may have a diesel in it. As far as the ride, I would say it would run very well when comparing it to a Sceptre. The Savage is a Sceptre with a CC, so they should run pretty much the same. The advantage of the Savage is the driving position back in the center of the boat. Add an IB and she'll run really nice with all the weight down low. I can't comment on speed but would think if it's propped right, you could expect a cruise in the low 20s based on the other 2 boats you've mentioned.

Scott is correct, should ride very well compared and would compare to a Sceptre. Not much extra weight up front frankly, I had a Sceptre. No clue on an inboard or a diesel I'm an outboard guy.
