Default Thinking about molding a RC Hull of an SC

A good buddy of mine and I grew up goofing off with Nitro RC 1/10 & 1/8 scale on and offroad cars n trucks. As I got a little older I raced strictly 1/8 & 1/10 on road awd 80 mph cars with a couple nitro boats sprinkled in. They are expensive and finicky no matter how much quality they are and how skilled you are with running and working on them.

So we get to having a few beers and he was reminiscing and said how he always wanted a boat but not nitro. He is really good with small engines like weedwacker motors and has a few we could easily convert. The hull is what we are kind of worried about. There are very few unique 40" to 60" hulls out there, for a mint. So I got to thinking that maybe a scaled down SC hull would run great as an rc , tending to track straight and having the right deadrise for what I want. The entry on rc's tend to be a little different than an actual boat. I do think I could get close enough to be happy. I'm thinking about starting with a foam block to make a rough plug then build a starting point for the hull keep, gluing, stiching, and fairing until I get the shape I want.

Anyone ever scale down an SC? I remember seeing a crossection about a foot at a time of the sc's on here somewhere. Anyone remember or have it?

I still can't figure out how to put a quote in my responses, but, one of them was in gillie's post about the 21, (if this is the one you're referring to).

Scroll down to Hermco's reply. I remember seeing another, but, can't remember where.

If memory serves me correctly, there was one of these done to show the comparison between a 20 and a 21, but, can't remember the subject of the post. It's here somewhere, though.

Yup I used that 21 vesus 25 comparison to mock up a google sketchup model. Dunno if that would be useful but I can email the .skp file if you want.

I used to race with a kyosho triumph and lazer zxr... there were too many losi and RC10s around here. Tekin was the bomb, except novak made stuff that worked better.

Press the "Quote" button in the upper right-hand corner of the post you are replying to and highlight what you want quoted. Type your message outside of the quote tags.

If you're trying to cut and paste a quote from another thread, copy it and then press the Quote button in the post you're responding to. Then paste it between the tags.

I don't have any 20 information but here are a few pictures of My Weed Wacker RC.

I don't know if this will help at all.
