Default Seamaster 27

Can anyone share their thoughts or experiences on this boat? Currently have a Seacraft 23 inboard savage, Would love to sell and move up to the 27 seamaster. Is the 27 a MUCH better ride? How does it compare to say blackfin 27, bertram 28 of same era?

Gerry,

If you haven't looked at the 27' in the for sale section, you should. It was Carl Moesly's favorite design. Get in touch with it's owner, Carla. She is Carl's daughter.

PS. If you didn't already know it, Carl was the designer of the original Seacraft and the founder of the original campany.

Gerry,
The 27' SeaMaster was a limited production boat. In other words, THIS IS A RARE BOAT!
You won't find too many people 'today' that are familiar with it's ride, since there are so few around.
If you think your 23 rides good, then you will find this one awesome.
A master of design, a design that won ocean races beating competitors who had lots more powerful engines. He finished first many times over and there may well have been Bertrams he left behind too.
Also, keep in mind, these ocean races often were run in some very
Challenging weather conditions, 10-12 ft seas ... Many boats fell apart and many drivers had to be taken to the hospital after a race ... Broken ribs, arm or head injuries. A SeaCraft never fell apart and not one trip to the hospital.
After all this, the 27 was Moesly's favorite. I think that says a lot.
Any more questions?

Best place to sell your 23 is right here... two forum topics below this one...in the For Sale section. The nominal fee of $25 helps support this wonderful website and all the wisdom we gain from the worldwide list of members.

Does this mean I should expect a deposit check for the 27?
Cheers

If I had a place to park it you would already have received a deposit from me!! Can't give up my 20SF, but I would love to have this one to fish offshore. Too many days when 3 - 5 ft seas make the 20 a bit wet and sloppy 20 miles out, and that 27 would just cut right through. Just can't park it at the house - no room left!!

Gerry,

The Bert 31' is a hell of a boat, but it is not known for being dry. It is known for being incredibly strong and "able' to handle a significant sea but not neccessarilly handle it comfortably! Also, it does not have a enclosed stand up head with vanity.

The 28' has a significant step down/up in its cockpit. Plus it is tough to find one at this price in this shape. Their cruise and wot are nowhere close to what this can do- mid 20's cruise and 40+ wot.

Ron, thank you for your kind thoughts ... I wish I had room to keep her, but 4 seacrafts give me a full lot too!

BigLew ... and thank you for your experiences ... how many different boats have you owned ????

Gerry ... I wish you were closer to just come take a ride in her. I'm pretty confident that would convince you.
Anyhow, please check out my latest post in the For Sale section.
Thank you.

I would purchase the 27 if I could find a home for my 23 inboard (savage) I have a few interested parties but nothing definite yet.
